Don’t Sacrifice Quality: Benjamin Moore Paint OptionsThe designers at Benjamin Moore (producers of the highest quality finishes and paints) are here to answer 3 interesting consumer questions:

Q: We want to do something fun and inventive in a small washroom/guest toilet off our entry hall. It seems like a great place to make a decorating statement.

A: A vibrant, colour-blocked effect is good advice in this situation; the idea being to paint a base coat, and then overlay it randomly with geometric shapes in a similar palette of colours. You can get as inventive as you like with the paint colours, and consider mixing some of them with Benjamin Moore metallic effects or Studio Finishes Glaze.

Q: For a guest room, would chocolate brown be too masculine? We love the colour but think it could be a tad “tweed”’ for a bedroom.

A: Rich brown is a lovely colour for a sunny room. However, it often looks black in poor light. To make it feel less masculine, pair it with intense blue.

Q: Should we paint the baseboards in our family room the trim colour or the wall colour?

A: The advice from Benjamin Moore is to only set the baseboards off with trim colour if there’s a credible reason to do so. Unless they are especially handsome and broad, paint them the wall colour.
